Tomorrow we will be doing our annual treasure hunt. We know what the reason for Easter is but I don't feel there is anything wrong with treats, egg hunts, bunnies & chocolate. We like to combine the two. I do a hunt using the bible story of Jesus' death & resurrection as the hunt for gifts. Here are a couple examples of the treasure hunt I made up:
Jesus is risen just like He said
Go have a look under a bed
They placed Jesus body in a tomb & rolled a huge stone over the door.
You will find something in this room placed on the floor.
The game is now over,
Did you have lots of fun?
It’s time to put the story in order
and then you are done.
These are just a few of the clues. Then I have the kids put the bible story in order.
Here are a few more ideas from Thriving family:
- family foot washing ceremony (John 13:1-17)
- Visit a garden or park & pray there(Luke 22:39-46)
- take a walk around the neighborhood, talk about how spring reminds us of new life
- have cupcakes with a candle in it & discuss how Jesus is the light of the world
Whatever you do, take time to reflect on the price Jesus paid for your sins(and mine) and rejoice that He is alive and we have victory over our sin!!
Have a very Happy Easter. God bless you & your family.
