Our Purpose in Life

As I mentioned in my last post:
Connecting with other Moms reminds us of our purpose

What is that purpose?
 - to raise children who love the Lord

"Mothers have a God-given purpose, to raise our children up to be positive contributors to both society and to the kingdom of God"

As Christians, we are to live a life that is pleasing to God. We are to be good examples to everyone around us, including our children.

Parenting is not an easy job. Some say it is the hardest job in the world. That may be true but it also has great rewards. We each parent in a different way yet the Bible is our manual and it gives us instructions on how to raise our children.

What does the Bible tell us about this?
Here are just a few of the many verses:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
-Deuteronomy 6:5-7

"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it"
Proverbs 22:6

"All your children shall be taught of the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children"
-Isaiah 54:13

"...bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord"
Ephesians 6:4

It is so important that we give our children a good foundation when they are young. Christian homes don't just happen and neither do kids who love the Lord. It takes work and it starts with YOU.

I am reading a book called "Raising Your Kids to Love the Lord". It is a great read and I recommend it to all parents who desire to live out out our purpose :

 to raise children who love the Lord.
