Worry

Do you ever worry? Why do people worry? For those of you who tend to worry, why do you think you do it? Do you feel like it will gain you something? Do you feel like you gain control of the situation by worrying? Do you feel like you are the only one who can look after the problem?

Let's have a closer look at worry.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? (Matthew 6:25-27)

Here is tells us that worry does not gain us anything.

Matthew 6 goes on to say:

"...for your heavenly Father knows what you have need of"

But what are we to do?

We are to "seek first the kingdom of God & His righteousness and all these things shall be unto unto you" (Matthew 6:33)

Do we seek Him first or do we worry first & then pray? I once read this little verse & have always remembered it:

If you're worrying, you're not praying.

If you're praying, you're not worrying.

God asks:"Do you trust me?" Are you trusting Him when you worry?

We need to trust God with every detail of our lives & trsut that He will take care of it.

Often I think that worry can be selfish. A person sits & thinks of themselves & they can get to a point of self pity.

How about reaching out to others & taking your mind off of yourself?

I would love to hear what you think.
