Yesterday, at camp meeting, Rev Sorzano spoke on sheep & whose voice are you listening to. Are you listening to voices of the world or are you listening to God's voice?
John 10:1-10 :
1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2But he that enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
A few interesting facts about sheep:
-they are creatures of habit
- aren't we that same way? we know what is wrong yet we keep doing it out of habit
- when sheep get on their back they can't get up they need the shepherd to help them up
- we also need the Shepherd to help us up, we cannot do it on our own
4And when he putts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
Do you know the voice of the Lord? Are you listening for his voice and following Him? or are you listening to the voices of the world? Does the voice that you hear line up with God's word? If not, it is not the voice of God.
5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.6This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Are you living life to the full?
We have something that the world did not give and the world cannot take it away yet so many Christians walk around with frowns on their faces living a mundane life.
A full life is not about the things we have. It is not about money or material possesions.
Whose voice are you listening to?
